For reasons unknown to you, some of your photos have disappeared from your gallery. Or you have pressed the wrong spot on your device, causing data deletion such as your sms and photos. In this article, you will learn how to recover deleted photos on your Samsung.
Recently deleted photos or videos stored in your smartphone or tablet gallery? Fortunately, it’s not a permanent deletion. Just like computers have done for a long time, Samsung devices have a Recycle Bin, where all the media you recently deleted is stored. This feature must, however, be activated beforehand. If not, your deleted media is permanently deleted. Normally, the first time you delete a photo on your phone, it will prompt you to activate the Recycle Bin.
Look in your Gallery for the folder Trash. There you will find all the photos and videos deleted in the last 15 or 30 days (this period varies according to the model and the Android version). All you have to do is choose the files you want to recover, then press Restore. The selected photos will reappear in your Gallery.
To check if the Recycle Bin option is enabled on your smartphone or tablet, open the Gallery application, then tap the Menu icon located on the bottom right of the screen. Tap Settings and scroll down to Trash. You will see whether or not the slider is enabled.
For Samsung camera users, you should know that they are also equipped with the Trash function. Just press the menu button and go to the Recycle Bin folder. The recovery process will start automatically.
If you were not able to recover your files from the Recycle Bin, either because the function was not activated or because the time limit before the final deletion has passed, you still have the possibility to try to recover your photos with One drive.
Microsoft OneDrive is a set of online services with cloud storage. It is also an application that you can download to your computer or smartphone.
On OneDrive, it is possible to synchronize the Gallery of your smartphone with the application. The first time you interact with OneDrive, the application will ask you if you want to enable automatic synchronization . If you do, you should be able to find your deleted photos. Follow these steps:
- Open the OneDrive application and go to Me.
- Open the Recycle Bin.
- Select the photos you want to recover and press Restore.
Your photos will reappear in your Photos space. Even if you have not enabled automatic syncing, if you perform manual backups from time to time, you should be able to regain access to your deleted photos from your smartphone.
Case in point: OneDrive has deleted photos without you realizing it. With the above method, you look for the presence of these photos in the Recycle Bin of the application, but you find nothing. OneDrive is on your computer and you manually sync your smartphone to it. The first thing to do in these cases is to go to the Trash on your computer.
Samsung has its own online storage space for its users. It works on the same principle as OneDrive, except that it’s built into your device. This means that even if you don’t have OneDrive, chances are you activated Samsung Cloud when you first used your smartphone/tablet.
To access Samsung Cloud on your device, open Settings and tap Samsung Cloud. Select Gallery and then go to Albums to upload. All you have to do is select the photo albums you want to restore to your smartphone.
We draw your attention to the end of some Samsung Cloud services. Indeed, during 2021, the synchronization of the Gallery with the Samsung Cloud Drive will be stopped. If you don’t have OneDrive yet and want to continue using an online storage service, you’ll have to download the application. You will be able to retrieve your photos within 90 days.
